Man-Khoi Nguyen started to play the violin at the age of six, when he was granted enrollment at the National Conservatory of Music in Vietnam. He has enjoyed playing ever since! His progress there was honored three times, as one of the school talents, to have his performance recorded for a music program on a Regional Television Channel. His passion for learning and performing continued to grow after he moved to the United States, and he is currently pursuing a Bachelor in Violin Performance at the University of Houston, under the guidance of world-renowned violinist Andrej Grabiec.
Man-Khoi believes that music is an essential and beneficial part of life. It is true that musical concepts can be confusing, but, if presented in the right way, they can be challengingly fun instead. He believes that intonation and technique are required in playing violin, but passion plays a large role in forming the artist as well. He wants to fuel that passion in his students by painting a picture with everything they work on, pushing the imagination and having the music become more enjoyable. Beethoven once said, "To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable."
Aside from classical training, Man-Khoi likes to reach out to different genres like rock, pop, and country. His recent activities include playing gigs with the Infinity Strings Quartet, taking part in the Moore School of Music’s voluntary Opera and Concerto Orchestras, and receiving training at the MASQ’s Chamber Music Institute.
