I am an American professional educator, who has particular expertise in TOEFL and IELTS, as well as academic writing and Business English training.
I completed MA English studies and taught academic writing for the Department of English at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio. My pedagogical focus was ESL and EFL. During my three years with CSU, I was inviting to participate in a visiting scholar program in China, and accepted. From that period on, I worked with learners at the tertiary level and, later, facilitated classes in academic English, writing and research methods to undergraduates and post graduate students.
After four years in China, I traveled to India to begin work in the corporate sector, training IT professionals in accent reduction and American culture. Upon completion of that contract, I moved to Turkey and worked, primarily in Legal English and ESP studies for professionals. Among my clients are Bayer and Sandoz in Istanbul. Most recently, I served as an oral English coach for the cadets at Hava Harp in Istanbul.
I am trained to teach TOEFL and IELTS, which skills have aided learners to enter universities abroad, as well as apply for promotions within the government sector. My students most often score above requirements to enter universities in the UK and the USA.
Additionally, I have contributed to development of assessments, curriculum design, student placement and have managed the entire curriculum and licensure for accreditation for a language school in the USA. A strong team leader, I have served as a department head for Raffles International, curriculum coordinator for two universities, and as teacher trainer. One accomplishment I particularly enjoyed was serving on the development of the Foundation Year language program at the American University of Afghanistan in 2010.
Overall, I have worked in 11 different countries over the past 20 years, and hope to speak with you soon about possible openings on your teaching staff.
