I embarked on a 13 week TESOL Course 2 years ago and successfully gained a Trinity TESOL certificate. It was extremely intense we had 6 weeks of learning grammar, phonology, teaching methodology and ideals. Then 7 weeks teaching the students and witnessing my colleagues teach.
As I mentioned I now have 2 year's experience teaching in Jakarta and have taught all age groups from 5 upwards, as well as at all levels from beginner to advanced. The classes I have taught consist of up to 16 students and are between 1 hour and 20 mins and 2 hours 40 mins in length. These are mostly general English but i have taught conversation and Business English at corporate level. I’m now well versed in teaching the T.T.T. and P.P.P method, preferring T.T.T. I always ensure there are fun activities, plenty of interaction and I’m always looking for fresh ways to introduce and teach grammar points. I feel this is the essence of teaching and there is nothing more pleasing than helping a student develop his or her language skill. It gives a great joy to teaching.
