Hello everyone, I enjoy art, traveling, learning other languages and meeting people from around the world. I've had an interesting life as a self-employed professional artist, speaker, workshop leader, university professor and entrepreneur.
I started teaching ESL at University of Houston in 2005. Many of my students were frustrated because Americans could not understand them even with their academic training. At work, they were not being promoted or didn't have the fluency and vocabulary to easily explain their technical knowledge.
From 2008-2010, I had the opportunity to live in Thailand and travel around Southeast Asia. Speaking Thai, a tonal language, was a challenge for me, but it trained my ears to hear. I also recognized the importance of correct pronunciation. Now, I teach foreign born professionals skills to improve their communication skills with Accent Reduction and American English Pronunciation.
