Howdy. My name is Matthew, and I'm a recent graduate with a couple of years of teaching experience. I'm from the Memphis area; I grew up in DeSoto County and attended Northwest Mississippi Community College. I received an associate's degree in theatre from there and went on to study creative writing and journalism on a pre-law track at Arkansas State University. I still live in the area and currently teach Spanish and theatre at two local private schools, in Southaven and Oxford respectively. My past experience includes 2 years of substitute teaching in public and private school settings, a year and a half of morning and after-school care with the YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South, and brief stints here and there in journalism, the restaurant business, and software engineering.

Flexible schedules, negotiable rates, and my passion for education, growth, and spiritual nourishment all make me a good fit for homeschool students, student athletes, artists and performers, and any students who seek a faith-based learning environment for a reasonable fare. In addition, I'm working on my certification to teach English as a foreign language, making me a good fit for ESL students also. I have experience with all ages, and a wide variety of subjects. Preschool, Kindergarten, and Primary School (PreK-1st) - all subjects; Elementary and Intermediate School (2nd-5th) - all subjects; Middle School/Junior High (6-8th) - all subjects; High School (9-12th) - English/Literature, World U.S. and European History, Spanish and French, Fine Arts, Biology and Physical Science, Test Preps of Various Kinds (PSAT and ACT mostly but also a little SAT), and Algebra I and II. Higher maths are a little tougher, same with some sciences, but aside from that, with a little heads-up I can teach just about anything.
