I grew up in rural East Texas, enjoying the life of hunting, fishing, and playing sports. Upon graduating I moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston, while working for a manufacturing company where I had spent many prior summers working.
While attending school, I ran the company's purchasing department. I eventually transferred to, and obtained a degree from Texas A&M University, before returning back to the company as manager and Vice President.
I have served various positions ranging from floor sweeper all the way up to being the President and CEO.
Some years were spent in the real-estate sector as an agent and investor. I purchased my first house, at the age of 21, while in college. Have been involved with other investment groups and have invested in a few privately-held companies myself.
Charitable work is a dear component to me. I serve on the Board of Joseph's Coat Foundation, an organization founded in honor of my younger brother, Joseph, who passed away in 2010. JCF raises money to support those suffering from PTSD, provides local childcare for veterans, as well as annual scholarships.
In 2014, I became the founding chairman of Men Go Red For Women, for the American Heart Association-Northwest Harris County. MGRFW's mission is to help improve heart-health awareness, provide funding for community action programs, and support scholarly activity specific to heart disease in women. In college, I had a minor heart attack.
Other than all that, I spend time competing in Tough Mudder competitions, multiple times a year, which are military-designed obstacle courses ranging 10-12 miles. Aside from the enjoyment, a major draw is money raised from these events supports the Wounded Warrior Project.
I enjoy life and aspire to motivate others to stop dreaming and focus on making their own lives the very best it can be.
In August 2014, I co-authored my first book, The Way Out, with an amazing group of talented people.
