Hi there!
My name is Jen, and I love teaching and learning. I grew up on a small farm in a border town in Canada near Buffalo, NY where I worked and played outdoors, water-skied, played sports and spent time with family. A few of the achievements of which I'm proud are a successful boat cleaning business I started at twelve, embracing my wanderlust at 20 years old as I began to explore overseas and running a successful summer camp on my farm, for families of modest means.
As a third-generation educator, I've had students aged 5 through 82 in various countries but have done most of my teaching in Western New York. My favorite subjects to teach are Geography, History, English, Art and Science. I pride myself on the creation of outdoor learning spaces and fitness clubs and encouraging and assisting students to perform culturally important poems, songs and dances in front of hundreds of people.
Some of the ways in which my family, friends and colleagues describe me are that I'm full of energy, compassionate, empathetic, fun, hard-working, consistent, loving, dedicated, persistent, bright, helpful, adventurous, always up to trying something new and someone they can count on. My family and close friends laugh at how often and easily strangers share their life stories with me after only knowing me for a few minutes. Making sincere connections with people has always come easy for me, helping me in the fields of sales and teaching.
Travel, especially international travel, with my daughter and husband, is my most favorite thing to do. Adventuring off the beaten path, meeting locals, learning about cultures different from my own, trying new foods and exploring places not found on the cover of a brochure, delight my heart and soul. Some of my other passions are nature, helping those in need, coaching sports and cooking.
My professional goal is to work for a company, school, organization or family where my talents could be used to help students learn to critically think or come out of their shell and master public speaking or increase profits for a company for which I truly believe is providing a valuable product or service.
My preference is to work in Western New York but would entertain a job involving travel, local or international, if the right opportunity presented itself.
