Dear Madame/Sir.,

I am a semi-retired former Canadian government employee who has spent the last nine years traveling the world while working periodically and I am now seeking a new, fulfilling career challenge. I am hoping you will consider my CV for an English teaching position, as I have a genuine passion for both the English language and teaching. I believe that with my diverse work background I am ideally suited for this role. I exemplify professionalism, maturity, experience, compassion and commitment in all that I do.

I spent eight years as a Military Police officer, responsible for a number of complex, sensitive investigations. I commanded my own section for three years in downtown Vancouver an, a major Canadian port city, and implemented policy for that section, liaising with many agencies, including CSIS, RCMP, NSIS, American Military Intelligence, as well as high levels of the Canadian military. I also supervised and participated in complex intelligence-gathering and counter-intelligence operations. I was a correctional officer for many years at a federal penitentiary, working directly with both male and female inmates. As well, I was a staff training officer, both at the penitentiary and at the regional Staff College, instructing new and potential staff in many components, utilizing the principles of adult learning. This role had an important mentoring component to it. I was also a community engagement officer charged with coordinating and liaising with over 1200 prison volunteers, and developing and delivering a training program to new volunteers, while managing a large budget. I have done a great deal of public speaking in both formal and informal settings, to both small and large groups. I have twice delivered an Interpersonal Skills course to college students at a local college, as well as two other courses, all of which were extremely well received by the participants. I worked for the United Nations in Chad as a security training officer, instructing UN staff deployed to that country`s UN mission, completely in French. I spent two months two winters ago as a volunteer tutor and mentor at the local high school in Inuvik, NWT, an Arctic community. In summary, I believe I am an excellent fit for your team.

Thank you for taking the time to access my profile.

Yours truly,

Carole Cuthbert
