My name is Cambria Rodriguez and I am a fifth year, 2nd grade teacher for Etiwanda School District in Rancho Cucamonga, California. I hold a M.A in Education Curriculum, a Multiple Subject California State Teaching Credential, a B.A. in Early Childhood Studies, and an A.S. in Child Development. I am also currently working to receive my National Board Certification in Early Childhood. I am most passionate about making a difference in the lives of my students and having a positive impact on their academic growth. I want to not only be their teacher, but a strong role model in their lives.
As an elementary educator, I aspire to create an environment that fosters collaboration, community and respect. My goal is to provide a classroom for my students that encourages them to grow academically and developmentally. I value open minds, positive attitudes, and high expectations for my students and myself. In addition, I aim to bring consistency, warmth and diligence to my classroom each day to further support my students. I believe in taking a holistic approach with my instruction that pushes application. My students should learn and demonstrate their knowledge not only from me, but from each other, their family members, and the community. Methodically, I will present a curriculum that will incorporate the individual needs of my students, and offer intentional learning activities to cultivate understanding of the content versus memorization. I will provide concrete, hands-on learning experiences, cooperative learning, projects, themes, and independent work that engages and activates students' critical thinking. I practice this by serving as a guide to facilitate my students’ learning rather than give solely direct instruction. Lastly, I believe in creating meaningful relationships with both my students and their families to further create a positive experience and support any behavior. With strong relationships, open communication and a focus on equity, my classroom is not only a place for growing minds, but shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
