With over 29 years of experience in education, my journey has been unconventional yet deeply enriching. It began with a decade as a lead martial arts instructor, where I discovered my passion for teaching, particularly the challenge of adapting lessons for diverse age groups and learning styles.
While raising a family, I spent 15 years wearing multiple administrative "hats" in the office of a prominent Seattle private school. Then, while homeschooling my daughter through 6th grade, my love for teaching was rekindled, inspiring me to pursue a teaching degree. To gain hands-on classroom experience, I took on the role of a Classroom Aide for four years, which allowed me to independently manage classes, substitute teach across multiple grade levels, and work closely with students needing additional support, including those with neurological and behavioral differences, dyslexia, and gifted abilities. I have experience working with students of all elementary grade levels.
These experiences have shaped my educational philosophy: every child is a unique learner, and no single approach works for all. I find deep joy in uncovering the teaching methods that best support each student’s comprehension, motivation, and success.
I would love the opportunity to bring my diverse background and dedication to individualized learning to your students. With my state teaching certification in progress and expected to be finalized within the next two weeks, I look forward to discussing how my experience and philosophy align with your needs.
