Hello!
I am a well-educated, well-traveled American currently living in Vietnam. My academic background is in psychology, sociology, and communications, particularly foreign languages and public speaking.
I have been studying languages and linguistics my whole life. I worked in Europe for a while as a government translator and interpreter, so I know what it takes to achieve fluency in a foreign language. In my university years, I tutored foreign students in ESL; taught private ESL classes to immigrants; and taught Russian to Americans. For the past 4 years, I have been teaching English to students of all ages and levels in Thailand and Vietnam in a range of situations including public schools, universities, commercial English schools, company classes, English clubs, private lessons, and online classes & helpdesk (student questions and proofreading via chat and email).
Whether you want to improve your test scores or get that great job at a foreign company, I can help you if you are willing to help yourself. Language is a performance art. You learn by doing; by using the language.
Major Keys:
*Build a strong vocabulary - Primarily through reading and discussion
*Reading - Improves vocabulary, grammar, and syntax and provides discussion material.
*Listening - There is no substitute for active listening practice.
*Speaking - You will do a lot of speaking, both in conversation and in presentations.
*Writing - You will do some writing as it is active language production and will help your speaking.
*Pronunciation and accent - We will systematically work on correcting and developing good pronunciation and accent
You will spend time reading, listening, speaking, and writing. You will make mistakes and you will learn from your mistakes. You will gain confidence and your English will improve.
I look forward to hearing from you!
