Do you want to home school, but the thought of taking on the task scares you? Are you discouraged by the current state of public education and have a student or small group of students wishing to take a different approach to learning? Let me help!
I first entered the classroom back in 1998, and since then have practiced in a continually changing public education climate. While some initiatives have worked wonderfully, some (particularly in light of recent events) have not. Currently, I am a RI certified educator at the middle school level, who has earned the distinction of being “highly qualified”. While my certification lies in science (general science/biology), I am also well versed in middle school math and ELA. In addition to middle school, I have taught at the high school level, specifically general science, biology, chemistry, and introductory physics. In the past, I have also tutored students in the areas of middle school math (including algebra/pre-algebra), as well as writing.
I received my B.S. in Biology from Providence College (1996), and in May 2022 I am due to receive my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.
What sets me apart from other educators? I was born to teach; it is my calling. I take pride in my work, and believe in teaching students in a way that is patient, nurturing, and fun! I am a mother of three (one in college and two in high school), and being a mother has taught me a great deal about being a teacher. I teach kids the way I want my own kids to be taught - with compassion and understanding.
I would be willing to teach either in person (your home or a neutral location), or via Zoom. Compensation will depend on the number of students, number of hours per week, and distance traveled. Resume available upon request.
I look forward to helping your family or group forge a new path; one where learning is personalized, meaningful, and enjoyable!
