I’m Jacqui, a longtime New York City educator and mom of two children, one of whom is neurodivergent. I live on the Upper East Side and bring over 20 years of experience teaching and mentoring in early childhood and elementary education.
I hold two master’s degrees from Hunter College — one in Special Education (Birth–2nd Grade) and one in Elementary Education (Pre-K–6th Grade) — and am state-certified in both areas. I also completed an advocacy program through NASET, earning my Board Certified Advocate in Special Education (BCASE), and I am currently completing 40 hours of training toward becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply committed to supporting children, families, and educators. As a Head Teacher in preschool, I designed engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum and fostered social-emotional growth alongside academic skills. Later, as a Special Education Teacher, I worked in ICT and ASD Nest classrooms, where I developed IEPs, led small-group instruction, and created behavior supports that were used across grade levels.
My work as a SEIT has been especially meaningful, allowing me to partner closely with children, families, teachers, and therapists. I’ve helped strengthen learning at school and at home, always with a focus on equity, collaboration, and evidence-based practice. Both my professional background and my personal experience as a parent shape the way I approach education — with empathy, high expectations, and a deep belief in every child’s potential.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, creating art, meditating, hiking, and playing with my dog. I also love volunteering — most recently, I spent three weeks in South Africa helping at an orphanage — experiences that continue to deepen my perspective and connection to community.
