I am a Christian homeschool teacher/tutor who possesses and cherishes a unique background in Charlotte Mason’s methods and philosophy: an education that emphasizes finding God in nature and embracing the love of knowledge through living books! CM’s legacy was alive and well back in 1998, inspiring and blessing me in so many ways as I began my own personal homeschool journey, K-12, with my four children in San Diego, California, under my PSA, Shepherd’s Summit Christian Academy.

My strong faith in Jesus gave me the courage to set my children apart from the ways, thoughts, and attitudes of this world. My solid background in early childhood development was the driving force that created those two roads that diverged, and we know how that ends! I was called by our Father to embrace with determination and perseverance that road less traveled by, which truly made all the difference in my children’s lives. My daughters, now 23, 24, 28, and 31, are lifelong, creative, enthusiastic learners that possess extraordinary character, morals, and values, for which I give all the praise and glory to God!

That calling on my life began in 1996, when I left my job in human resources management to become a licensed home day care provider. When my negative experiences with daycare centers convinced me I had to do better for my children, I started my own private business, reaching out to other families who wanted the influence of a caring, committed mother that possessed a heart overflowing with love and compassion, purposed in cultivating and nourishing their children as if they were her own.

During the next five years, I took classes, read books on child development, produced monthly newsletters, cooked healthy food, created daily feedback in journals, and implemented enrichment activities that were centered around reading, music, arts and crafts, poetry, exercise, and backyard exploration. I gained the trust and respect of my daycare families as they watched their children grow and thrive in a positive environment stimulated with equal amounts of structure and freedom that not only encouraged good habits, but motivated and strengthened their curiosity for the natural world through self-exploration and independence.

In 2000, when it was obvious that my daughters were fully embracing a genuine love for learning and were thriving in this stimulating microenvironment, I turned my full attention to developing an individualized, stress-free, creative, educational atmosphere in the same way I devoted my time and energy in those early years to learning everything I could about childhood development. That’s when I discovered CM.

From 1998 to 2019, I homeschooled my four daughters in San Diego, California, and was solely responsible for their education: selecting custom curriculum based on Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and methods, teaching the Word of God, planning detailed lessons that encompassed drawing and journaling, spending time in nature, exercising, learning to play piano and guitar, volunteering, gardening, sewing, cooking healthy meals, homesteading with chickens and rabbits, all while maintaining yearly educational records in alignment with California state guidelines and standards that led to the successful execution and submission of applications for college admissions.

My oldest daughters graduated in May, 2016 (CPA/Finance) and May, 2018 (Marketing) after receiving full-tuition Honors scholarships to Concordia University, Irvine. My youngest daughters graduated in 2023 (Business/Sociology) and (Chemistry/Art) after receiving 90% of their tuition from multiple scholarships and grants from Westmont College, Santa Barbara.

In 2017, while finishing up my youngest daughters’ home education, I began tutoring phonics and English for families on Care.com, customizing individualized lesson plans and providing weekly progress reports. The photo below was taken in April, 2024. Families I have worked with extensively have shared their hearts in detailed reviews about my success, passion, and dedication to teaching, which you may wish to access through this link:

I am also a consultant/teacher/tutor for families new to homeschooling that have special educational needs for children with learning challenges. I created a Facebook page, Love of Learning, Tutor and Homeschool Services, to encourage families to remain hopeful and confident in their ability to do much better as they search for alternatives to public education.

Love of Learning Homeschool website:

Educating children requires patience,
perseverance, compassion, endurance,
good communication and multitasking,
and of course, flexibility on demand.

I am passionate about my calling
to be a light in this dark world
for my light will shine brighter
because of the Rock upon which I stand!

God equipped me with a strong entrepreneurial background that began with refined office skills which have come in handy! Proficiency in English, drafting/writing letters, meticulous with numbers, and typing 70 WPM. In that uncharted territory, I became a one-of-a-kind licensed home day care provider who blossomed into a successful homeschool teacher.

I made the decision to move to Georgia 3 years ago when housing became unattainable for me as a single mother in California. I continue to believe that in His timing, a position will become available that opens the door to financial stability, resources, and a long-term commitment. I will be moving to Tennessee in June, 2025.
