I began my teaching journey at a visual arts school in Houston where I was the Registrar and Office Manager. Soon, I discovered a passion for education, and working with young people. A year after I left the art school, I became certified in the state of Texas. Today, I am working on my 7th year as an educator. For most of my career, I instructed First Grade, and I love teaching students to read and do mathematics. In 2024, I traveled overseas to complete three weeks of Spanish Language Immersion-it was a valuable and remarkable experience. I plan to return again for more instruction in 2026.
I believe that in order to "teach", I must "reach" - that is, I build relationships with all my students. Quality instruction requires a heart full of compassion, and a genuine love of children, family, and the community. I bring my strong sense of community to the educational table.
When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy the cinema, good books, or fun road trips.
