My potential for teaching is rooted in my teaching philosophy. I want to approach teaching where I operate as a source of guidance for my students in addition to teaching academics. I am passionate about incorporating personal growth skills for my students through academics. That is to say, I place a high value on interpersonal and intrapersonal skills and relationships. I can expand my teaching philosophy and have done so while working with economically disadvantaged students at Barbara Jordan high school and in completing my student teaching at the secondary level. I believe I can accomplish these goals teaching English Language Arts, and I have a true desire to prepare my students for their future education in whatever direction that may be.
The study of English and Literature is imperative in helping students explore their beliefs while being able to recognize different perspectives in the world around them. Interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships can be explored through the written word as well as in Literature. I know I can be an effective teacher if I approach my students from this philosophical standpoint.
I am enthusiastic about teaching English and Literature and I wish to convey the importance of exploring and understanding Literature to my students so that they can become better writers and think analytically about their own thoughts and future decisions. I believe I can be successful in this endeavor because I have an undeniable understanding of how to communicate with young adults that enables me to reach my students.
In order to learn and grow humility is an essential quality to possess, no matter what field of academics that may be in. I have always approached learning in this manner and it is my wish to teach in this manner as well.
