I have over 40 years of experience as both a classroom teacher and tutor, with a strong focus on reading, literacy development, and English Language Arts. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with students from elementary through middle school, supporting a wide range of learners — from struggling readers who need intervention to gifted students who thrive on enrichment and challenge.

My expertise is grounded in the Science of Reading, and I specialize in helping students strengthen phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. I also guide learners in developing strong writing skills, grammar usage, and effective communication. Beyond literacy, I support students with study skills and test preparation, equipping them with strategies for success on state assessments and standardized tests.

I enjoy creating lessons that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to each student’s needs. Whether I’m using multisensory strategies, technology tools, or real-world connections, my goal is to make learning both meaningful and enjoyable.

In addition to my classroom experience, I bring a global perspective from my time serving as a missionary and educator overseas. These experiences have shaped my ability to foster inclusivity, cultural awareness, and a deeper connection with students from diverse backgrounds.
