I am a highly experienced ESL tutor with over 2 years of relevant experience in English as a Second Language instruction. I also speak French and Spanish as well as English. My proficiency in French and Spanish are both of a conversational level, or working proficiency.I started out my ESL experience as an assistant teacher while I was still a senior in high school. It was then I learned about editing papers and grammar instruction in a classroom setting.
After high school, I started tutoring on my own through the website WyzAnt.com. I specialized in one-on-one ESL lessons, catering to individual students’ needs and levels of English. After 3 months of ESL classes through WyzAnt, I was recruited by the tutoring company Jefferson Academics, who hired me in January of 2013 to teach an ESL class at the corporate level. I taught a 14-week course for employees at a hotel in Chicago. The course taught concepts such as grammar and sentence structure for a group of ESL students ranging from level 1 to level 7. The students were all very receptive and requested that I teach another ESL course at the hotel in the future. Since teaching this ESL course, I have written lesson plans for other ESL courses at Jefferson Academics. I was appointed Director of Outreach for Boarding Schools. My job responsibilities entail directing Jefferson’s virtual interns on Facebook, recruiting students, and conducting sales calls for ESL courses.
I currently provide guidance for 8 interns. I also coordinate evaluations for Jefferson on how to improve their own training policies and teaching methods. I still attend school as an undergraduate at Loyola University Chicago. I will earn my B.A. in French with a minor in Spanish in 2 years. I will earn both my teacher’s certificate and M.A. in 4 years. School is very important to me and I am eager to continue my studies while also working as much as possible. An online teaching forum is ideal for me to use on a regular basis to continue teaching ESL classes. I already use Skype for work purposes such as teaching and directing interns.I have also taught many other subjects through WyzAnt, such as French, Spanish, English, language arts, history, philosophy, biology, essay writing, special education, computer skills, and algebra.
