Greetings! My name is Cornell, and I am a dedicated educator with over 12 years of experience helping students thrive academically and personally, especially in mathematics. I am passionate about working with students who are ready to grow, explore, and be motivated in their learning. I bring a growth mindset to every lesson and strive to cultivate that same mindset in the students I teach.
My teaching philosophy centers on helping learners understand the why and how behind the concepts they study. Whether working with kindergartners or high school seniors, I aim to serve as a guide on their educational journey, not just to give answers, but to help them think critically and confidently for themselves.
I currently serve as a Math Instructional Specialist for Mesquite ISD and as Chief Program Officer of an innovative urban boarding initiative for students in Dallas. These roles have strengthened my leadership, curriculum design, and instructional coaching skills. I am well-versed in effective teaching practices across K–12 and am committed to meeting students where they are.
Outside the classroom, I play bass in a jazz fusion band and enjoy the vibrant live music scene here in Dallas. Music has taught me the value of collaboration, flexibility, and creativity, all of which I bring into my teaching practice as well.
My approach to leadership and instruction is firm but fair. I believe learning should be fun and engaging, but also purposeful. I’m patient, optimistic, and empathetic, especially toward students who face challenges in their learning. I love bringing humor into my sessions and creating an inclusive environment where every student feels seen and supported.
I am currently available for in-person sessions Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 3:15pm. While I reserve weekends for rest and rejuvenation, I’m happy to offer virtual support on Saturdays and Sundays if needed.
If you're looking for a passionate, experienced, and student-centered educator to support your child’s learning journey, I’d love to connect!
