I am a reading specialist who worked at the a school focused on remediation for students with language-based learning disabilities. I relocated to Connecticut to be closer to family. Unfortunately, the commute would be unreasonable, so I switched schools and began working at a private school in Stamford. This school is focused on granting private education regardless of socioeconomic means. I am double certified in Childhood Education (grades 1-6) and Special Education (grades 1-6). For the last five years, I have taught grades 2-5.
I began my career student teaching in two consecutive international school, while attending one of the country’s most diverse universities. Following the completion of my undergraduate program, I sought out a program which would prepare me for the responsibility of educating emerging learners. Throughout my career, I’ve strived to use evidence-based practices which would result in the highest learning outcomes for all students. My career at the Windward School enabled me to do exactly that, learn and teach using best- practices and constantly improve upon and refine my trade. However, learning is not just my trade, it is a personality trait that I continue to enjoy within and outside of my career. Since the completion of my graduate program, I have continued to seek out every possible professional development opportunity available to me. Throughout my ever-evolving career, I have learned from doctors at the Haskins Lab, lawyers fighting for reimbursement from school districts, speech and language pathologists and their feedback, mathematicians with emerging research about dyscalculia, and so many countless brilliant professionals.
I appreciate your consideration and look forward to speaking with you further regarding the position.
