John Millman
Bien Hoa City, Vietnam
Please consider my application to be an ESL teacher at your institution. I am TEFL certified and I have a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in special education. I am currently teaching English to students of all ages and levels for VMG Language Center in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. I was voted "most popular teacher" by teachers and staff at our annual awards banquet in November 2013. I love working for VMG and I thoroughly enjoy the students, whether they are young children, teens, university students or adult business people. However, I am looking for a new challenge in a more suitable environment.
Before coming to Vietnam, I was an ESL teacher at Extreme Learning Center in Arequipa, Peru, for 14 months. I also taught the TEFL Pedagogy and Grammar courses at Extreme in Arequipa. These courses enabled prospective teachers to become TEFL certified. I have taught in school districts in Delaware and Ohio in the United States before going overseas.
Before I became a teacher, I was a journalist for 30 years. For the last 20 of those 30 years, I was an editor, working with reporters to improve their articles. I left journalism in 2008 and earned my master’s degree in special education from Antioch University Midwest in Yellow Springs, Ohio, USA.
I love teaching. I strive to make my classes fun and informative for my students. Perhaps most important, I truly respect the students and I believe the students know this and appreciate this. I believe I was well-liked and respected as a teacher in Peru. I believe I am well-liked and respected as a teacher in Vietnam. In my opinion, this is no accident. I plan thoroughly for every class and try to make each class an event that students enjoy and look forward to. I would bring the same enthusiasm and work ethic to your institution.
Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
John M. Millman
